There are so many things occurring in this world that I am so glad Jennifer is not here to witness, some of the things going on right now would have really worried her. She was a world class worrier. She had a tendency to burn bridges before we even got to them. I can’t count how many times I had to talk her off the ledge about various things. Thankfully for the most part it usually worked out, but she sure did worry about things.
With yesterday’s news of the buying of Marathon, I got to worrying about some of the few friends that we had left at Marathon. I know Jennifer would have been worried sick about them as well. Some of these folks were like Jennifer and I, in that they are long term employees that are very close to qualifying for early retirement. I am praying that they either get picked up by ConocoPhillips or at the very least get a severance that allows them to retire.
In August we will have been retired 7 years, I find that hard to believe, but I am again so thankful that we did retire early and that Jennifer got some time (albeit much to short) to enjoy life without work worries.
It is another crappy weather day here this morning. Woke up to some snow and it is lightly snowing off and on as I type this. Yesterday I had my rotary meeting and the folks in Mesquite were saying it was 100 degrees there yesterday. So maybe the snow is not all that bad.
Yesterday two nice young people from Senator Jon Tester’s campaign came out to put up a sign in Mom and Dads field facing the interstate. So I helped them get the sign up. I sure hope the people in Montana are smart enough to re-elect Jon. My friend Tom Davis’s daughter works for Senator Tester and these young folks knew her and spoke highly of her.
We had a slew of company stop by yesterday so it was a good day for Dad he loves getting company and catching up with folks about anything and everything.
It will be a busy day today as it is his Rotary meeting today. So he should be pretty happy about that.
Well I better get a move on as we have to get several things done before we head to town.
