Well this afternoon winter started showing up. It was a busy morning Dads home health physical therapist showed up at 9:00. As soon as we finished that we got Dad bundled up to go to the Dentist. He was having discomfort with his bridge and he had a root and a bone fragment that were rubbing on it. So we got him in the car and Colleen took him in and his dentist hopefully fixed him up.
I had a couple errands to run. So I jumped in my truck and went in and got those done.
Jennifer had a couple of heavier winter coats that we would leave here for her to wear vs hauling them back and forth. The weather here is supposed to get pretty cold this coming weekend. So I took the coats into the Butte Rescue Mission (homeless shelter) to donate them. I don't know why but I got pretty teared up taking them in. I think part of it was one of the jackets was one she wore on her sledding outing in 2021. As I have mentioned before, that was so out of character for her but looking back (as I have mentioned before) I am very glad she did it. There is no way she would have been able to do it this year (not enough snow). However, it is a memory that I will cherish until the end of my days.
I truly hope they help keep someone warm, as I mentioned before, I hate seeing things go to waste or collecting dust if someone could use them. They were not new but they were in good shape and still had a lot of wear in them. They were quality (Columbia) coats.
Also I needed to mail a box of stuff to Mesquite that I could not fit in my luggage. So went to UPS store and got that done.
Anyway just after I donated the jackets, the snow really started coming down pretty hard and the streets started getting pretty snarly so I was glad to get off the hill and down on the flats. I went and got the folks some groceries and picked up a Pappa Murphy's pizza for dinner.
Today was my folks 57th wedding anniversary. Not exactly the dinner we had in mind to celebrate, but Dad can't eat anything real hard or hot for the next couple of days. So he was able to scrape the toppings off and eat that.
When I got home I got my truck put away until I return, and activated my battery disconnect switch. I was hoping to run it through the car wash, but that was not happening. I knocked off the big ice chunks and snow the best could before I put it in the barn.
Then I plowed the yard as we were getting some pretty good drifts forming in certain areas. Hopefully I don't have to repeat in the morning, but the way it is blowing that is probably a pipe dream.
Poor Colleen is getting the shitty end of the stick. I have literally had very little winter to contend with, but that appears to be changing. Hopefully I am getting out of here just in time.
This evening I will be working on getting everything gathered up and ready to be packed. My flight is at 1:20 tomorrow. Colleen will run me in to the airport. God willing I will get into St George around 6:20. Our friends Margot and Allen are going to pick me up and bring me back to Mesquite. I am so blessed to have good friends.
Well enough for tonight.
Hope you have a good trip home tomorrow, Joe. Sorry we didn’t get a chance to see you this trip. Hopefully next time. Love, Lynn and Duke
