Yesterday was another day of cleaning stuff (mainly garbage and scrap metal) out of buildings. Once again, Chad and Cindy did the lion’s share of the work. These two have been working their asses off. They finished up in the horse barn for now. There is still some more to get out of there but, it will have to wait until after the auction is completed so we can move some things around.
Pat graciously hosted another get together at her home for Jennifer’s family. I took Heath and Case with me. Case was being a little apprehensive about going, but he had a pretty fun time. Yesterday was warmer so the kids were able to have water balloon and squirt gun fights and play whiffle ball and basketball. There was a lot of laughing and giggling and very wet kids before it was all said and done.
After the eating was done, our great nephew Logan broke our his traveling electric guitar and amp and gave us a little private concert. The kid can really play that axe. His repertoire is pretty amazing from the 1950’s through today. The littler kids were making requests and Logan was able to play a lot of the ones they requested. His great grandmother Rose, his grandmother Rosie and his mother Billie, would have been so proud to have a quality musician in the family. Logan is only 13 and to be playing at the level he is at is very very impressive. You can tell he really enjoys playing. He will be attending some guitar camps back east before he and his father Richard will be heading back to Germany.
After Logan’s concert the majority of us loaded up and went over to Stodden Park and the kids played some Pickleball. It started out a little rough with a lot of ball chasing going on but within a hour the kids were really starting to pick it up. They were even doing a good job of the keeping the score. For anyone that plays Pickleball you know you have mastered the game when you can keep score.
The weather was far from ideal. It was pretty windy so they were having some challenges keeping the ball in play. I would venture to say that most of them probably slept pretty well last night.
After we finished Pickleball, Uncle Joe and Aunt Jennifer treated everyone (who wanted) to Ice Cream at Bonanza Freeze. I say that we both treated because payment was made with the proceeds of the sale of a flat bench and barbells (that we had in the trailer) and that I recently sold on Facebook market place.
Jennifer would have been so pleased that the “Flavor of the Day” was Licorice. Several of the folks chose that flavor for their treat. Uncle Joe was not one of them. She would really have enjoyed the evening. It breaks my heart that she was not there in person, but I can tell you she was there in spirit.
Today we will celebrate the life of Jennifer’s brother Mike. His sons Jon and Richard have arranged to have a gathering at the Butte Copper King Hotel this afternoon.
Mike’s passing last August 30 was very sudden and shocked everyone. My last conversation with Mike was just after I had set the date for Jennifer’s Butte Memorial service. Mike was struggling with coming to Butte for the service, because he was supposed to be going to Germany to spend time with Richard and Logan to celebrate Logan’s Birthday, but he also wanted to be there for Jennifer’s service. Elaine had shared with me Mike’s struggle with this, so I had called him to tell him to get his ass on the plane to Germany and spend time with his boys, that is what Jennifer and I would want. Unfortunately he passed before that happened.
Today is the day that our friend Jonel will also be having the service for her husband Kevin in South Jordan, Utah. I so wish I could have made it there for the service. She certainly is in my thoughts and prayers today.
Well enough for today I better get to moving a lot of ground to cover today.
