The Yips and Shoe Storage.

Well it was a busy weekend of Pickleball. Our club hosted its first tournament it was called “The Flat Top Mesa Challenge”. There were 162 players in the tournament and it was hosted at our 16 court complex. People came from Las Vegas, St George and other places. There were even some folks from Canada and Florida (RV’ers) that also played.

I played both days of the tournament, I played Men’s doubles and mixed doubles. Unfortunately I am currently fighting a case of the Yip’s with my serves. So my serving performance was utterly terrible. So my poor partners had to suffer with that. We did not win a single match either day. However, we had fun. It was a very nice tournament and the ladies who organized it did a great job with it. They had nice prizes and metals and some nice sponsors who donated items for raffles.

I did win 3 raffle items over the two days. Which is very unusual for me. I never win in those things. Jennifer always said it was because I was lucky in love and thus I could not be lucky in raffles. Anyway, I won a very nice Las Vegas Formula F1 tumbler (it is like the Stanley tumblers that were all the rage last year). I also won a smoothie tumbler with a tournament logo on it and a signed copy of a book titled “ History of Pickleball, More than 50 years of Fun!”.

Now here is the funny thing, I get home and I was thumbing thru the book and I come across this section that is about Pickleball Tournament Software and it is talking about the guy that created the original software Bob Lanius and his wife whose name is Jettye. Well in Butte there is a couple who play and there names are Bob and Jettye. There is a photo in the book, but it is a older photo and is pretty grainy. However, I am pretty damn sure it is them. Jettye is a pretty unique name. These folks also have a summer place up in Saw Mill Gulch in Elk Park. So very small world at times.

It was also fun people watching at the tournament. There were some characters and some people who had spent a few bucks and hours with a plastic surgeon. One gal could was freakish looking with how much facelift work she had done. She must have had recent Botox treatment on her lips as they were puffed up like a damn puffer fish. I guess if she is happy with it more power to her, but it was hard not to stare at her. Her skin could not be stretched much tighter her damn eyes were almost just little slits they were stretched so tight. She was giving Kenny Rogers a run for his money.

Saturday evening I went and watched the World Series at my friends Trish and Kevin’s house and we had a nice pasta dinner. With all the pickleball I did not get to watch any college football this weekend.

Last week I ordered a Shoe organizer cabinet online and it arrived last Thursday evening. I am putting in the entrance hallway of the house. It is a Ikea type piece of furniture, so there was the instructions with no words just pictures. Anyway I put that together last night. Surprisingly it went together pretty easily.

I think Jennifer would be Ok with it. It would probably not have been her first choice of what to put in that space, but she ain’t here so I get the say in it. It will be a place to put my shoes that I always wear and also my pickleball bag and shoes. I was always leaving shoes scattered around the kitchen area and it drove Jennifer nuts, so maybe she will be looking down from Heaven and saying God Damn It I had to die before he came up with a system to keep his shoes picked up.

I also will keep my car and golf cart keys in a little caddy on top so I maybe won’t be constantly looking for them. That is if I remember to put the damn things there when I come in the house. Hey I am trying, so I got to give myself some credit.

Well enough therapy for today. I need to do a little housework and yard cleaning since I screwed around and played all weekend.
