I got a lot of nice responses on my Facebook post for Jennifer’s Birthday.
Jennifer never had a real social media presence. She did have a LinkedIn account for work stuff but never posted anything. She never had a Facebook or any other social media account, she lived vicariously through mine.
I used to tease her that she was a Social Media voyuer. Depending on her mood that would sometimes get a chuckle and that shit eating grin she had and sometimes it would not. For some reason in April 2023 she was seriously considering getting a Facebook account, but she never pulled the trigger. It was very similar to her with getting a drivers license, I had a account she had access to it, so she did not need one of her own.
Over the years of looking at my Facebook account, she actually suckered me a couple of times into responding to a few people posts. Normally, I am just silent on things I do not agree with. She also would sometimes suggest I “unfriend” people based on a post they had made and that she did not agree with.
Usually, I would blow her off and tell her to get her own account if she felt that strongly about it. She would grump about it, but usually get over it. I did however bite on a few posts after the January 6 insurrection and responded to those that I felt were off base or way out of line. I also did unfriend a few people that I felt crossed a line that I could no longer tolerate. Well Enough on that.
Our nephew Conor’s girlfriend Leela ended up being the winner of the 2024 family bragging rights for basketball knowledge. She ended with a commanding 20+ point win over our nephew Ryan. I greatly appreciated (and I know Jennifer would have as well) those that took time to complete a bracket. It was something she enjoyed and looked forward to. As I have stated I do plan to continue that tradition as long as people are willing to participate. I may actually expand it to a two bracket tourney. One for men’s and one for women’s.
Both tournaments were interesting and entertaining this year. Congrats to both South Carolina and UConn on their national championships.
Well I better get doing something productive, enough for today.
