Yesterday Mom and I drove over to East Helena yesterday morning to watch Heath play in a soccer scrimmage. This was his first highschool game. He did good and looked like he had fun. The scrimmage was a mixed scrimmage with the East Helena High School girls soccer team. The teams were evenly mixed with both boys and girls.
We were able to park close to the field and Mom was able to watch from the car. I will be honest I don’t really know much about soccer, so a lot of the positions and rules are foreign to me. Heath was playing left fullback during the game. He played good defense and had a couple what I would call steals. He wears jersey number 2 (because that was the smallest jersey they had). Being a 8th grader he is one of the smallest players (but not as small as I thought he might be). He did get knocked on his behind on one play late in the game when he ran into the biggest guy on the field. However he jumped right back up and continued to battle (so that was good to see).
The first half he played on the blue team and then in the second half he played for the white team. Anyway it was overall a nice day for the game. However, it was pretty smoky. After the game we went over to the Galbavy’s house for a few minutes. The low tire pressure light had come on as we were driving over so we grabbed some air and then hit the road. The Galbavy’s had a busy afternoon planned. They were all getting haircuts and then they were going out to Canyon Ferry lake to see some friends and so Case could do some fishing.
They all start school this week. They are going to come over to the ranch this morning so we can do a few winterizing items. We are going to pull the pump used to water the yard out of the creek and winterize the water lines. We also need to repair a wing on the cattle guard that got damaged sometime during the auction pick up days. Someone hit the left wing with a trailer or vehicle and broke a support log and poles. Of course they did not stop and or tell anyone, so I hope it put a nice ding in their vehicle or trailer.
When we got home I had a quick bite of lunch and then went to town to run some last minute errands and to see the Walters before I got out of town.
When I arrived Teddy was not in the best of moods because he was having to clean his room and he was on the time clock. Anyway he cheered up a little when the cleaning time clock was paused for my visit and he entertained us with being a ghost. The ghost brought out several items for me to see. One was his prized collection of bugs and his bug tattoos. He has several actual bugs encased in lucite blocks. Some are pretty ferocious looking. Ted is quite the character and is always entertaining. I had a nice visit with Kate, Sam and Lydia between visits from our little ghosts. I say ghost because we had various versions that appeared during the visit. I was informed that the ghost had died from a chain saw murder. Quite the imagination on Teddy. He will start kindergarten this year.
After visiting I ran a couple of errands and then headed home. We had dinner and then I went out to do some things before it got dark. I got all the yard hoses drained and rolled up and put in the machine shed for the winter. I also got some prep work completed for the cattle guard work we will do today.
Last evening I also worked on starting to pack my bags for the trip back to Mesquite. Missed having Jennifer a lot yesterday. She would have enjoyed everything about yesterday. She would also have enjoyed watching the MSU Bobcats beat New Mexico in college football. I got home from town just in time to catch the scoring of the go ahead touchdown. They had trailed the whole game but pulled off the win with just seconds to spare.
Well I better get a move on, we got a lot to do today.
