One Of Those Mornings

It is nice sunny chilly (10 degree) morning here today. It is one of those mornings that I am really missing her.

When someone is alive you really don’t appreciate how much you depend on them for all kinds of things. I know Jennifer and I were pretty unique and fortunate in how much time we got to spend with each other. What a blessing.

However it maybe it was also a curse, because it sure sucks not having her here anymore and really really hurts.

This would have been one of those mornings where I would be up and she would be sleeping in, She would get up and be wanting a report on what was going on in the world, because she knew I would have already read the Butte paper, did my Yahoo search and purused my Facebook account. Then she would get her coffee and breakfast (usually a toasted English muffin with peanut butter). She would then start her own routine, she liked to read the San Antonio and Vegas papers.

Today we would have been talking about the Butte elephant situation and the scandal of the elephants background (it was supposed to have been retired and in a elephant sanctuary), we would have been discussing the Trump trial and all the bullshit going on in Washington, she would be fuming over the Arizona abortion situation, etc. She would have been saying that American women better get their asses out to vote, before they loose anymore rights, etc.

I really took those discussions for granted, and did not realize how much I would miss them when she was gone. I just never envisioned her not being here. Don’t take me wrong I didn’t always fully engage in all of those discussions. I would give the old “uh uh” response or tune her out, which would piss her off and usually result in a “ God Damn it Joe”.

Once she finished her routine, we would be figuring out our day. Being Thursday and if we were in Mesquite we would have been getting ready to go to Bocce. They have moved the start time up to 8:00 am (because of heat) there would have been some grumbling by her about that, but she enjoyed it enough to sacrifice some sack time to get up and go play.

Jennifer had her own way of measuring which ball was closer to the palino. She would use her feet, stepping it off. Also if she made a good shot she would say “And that’s how you do that!” Allen always got a chuckle out of that and honors her every once in a while by saying it.

Well I better get moving, today is Dad’s rotary day. So will be going to the meeting and then running a few errands.
