Maybe Swearing Will Help

Back in August, Pat, Kate and Hannah had put together and sent a care package of activities for Jennifer that she could do while dealing with Chemotherapy. Unfortunately it arrived the day that she passed and she did not get a chance to see it. I will tell you that she would have loved it and would have very much appreciated it.

One of the many things in the care package was a adult coloring book with markers. I recently wrote about Jennifer's coloring in kids coloring books and how I teased her about it. Well yesterday morning I was in a blue funk. I had taken a walk and it really did not help me get out of the funk. The crappy weather was also not helping my outlook. So I decided to breakout the book and markers and decided to try my hand at coloring. I put the Satellite radio on the 80's on 8 station and picked out a page and started coloring. Well it helped me get my mind off of feeling sorry for myself. As I said it is a adult coloring book, as you can see by the photo's below there is a reason for that.

As you can tell I am not the best at picking out/coordinating colors. However there is some special symbolism in here. The ice cream in the ice cream cone is intentionally gray for a reason. Jennifer loved black licorice ice cream. So I chose to depict that in this photo. She also liked black licorice. I am the total opposite I absolutely hate black licorice anything. I would just assume eat the sole of my shoe vs eating anything that tastes like black licorice. She would not have put sprinkles on it, but that was in the picture so I colored those as well. She just liked a plain old cone. We both liked orange creamsicles, so that is what I tried to depict in the popsicle.

She was not a huge banana split fan (I love them), I was trying to depict a caramel, strawberry and chocolate banana split. According to,the marker caps the browns are different shades, but they came out pretty close to the same. Also the strawberry section of the split is more purple than strawberry color. It will have to do. It's not like this masterpiece will be hanging in the Louvre. So if there are any art critics reading, make sure the read the caption of the page I colored.

I just want to thank Pat, Kate and Hannah for giving Jennifer that care package and to let them know it is not just collecting dust and that it helped me get out of a funk yesterday. I know I have many more of those days ahead of me, but have found something that will hopefully continue to help me.

Then I had a nice FaceTime call with the Malody's, it was nice catching up with them. We text regularly but is always nice to see each other. These calls are always good for a few laughs and are greatly appreciated. I just wish we did not have a three hour time difference between us.

I went up to Bocce at 2:00 and Linda (who reads my blog) brought me a very cool art kit project to work on. She thought it would help me get out of my blue funks (Great minds think alike). I will need to do a few more pages from the coloring book, to hone my staying in the line skills, before I tackle it, but I will definitely give it a shot. Also at Bocce, Margot and Allen also gave me a good lead on a adult comedy series that is on Paramount +. It is a Australian comedy series called "Colin from Accounts". I ended up watching four episodes last night. It is pretty damn funny. So if you are looking for a funny comedy show this one is pretty good.

Also just to clarify on question I wrote about the other day. I wondered if the 1980's was the decade with the most music " One hit wonders". Well some people have thoroughly researched this question and the short answer is the 1960's has the most one hit wonders The 1980's is like fourth.

Depending on how you define "One hit wonders" the 2000's could potentially be considered first. I found that surprising. However if you put some boundaries/definitiins on what a one hit wonder truly is the 1960's come out on top and the 1980's is like fourth. Some people have really spent some serious research time into determining this. Just Google "What decade has the most music one hit wonders" and you will see.

Hopefully today is a little better than yesterday in regards to the funks (so far it is) I am going bowling with the Sun City folks at 10:30 at the Virgin River Casino. It's the only bowling alley in town.
