Made It To Mesquite

I made it back to Mesquite. I got a little worried in Salt Lake City. About a hour before my flight it started snowing pretty heavy. However aircraft were still moving. So we boarded and then had to get in the de-icing que. So that delayed our departure. However, the pilots made up some pretty good time in the air and we were only about 10 minutes late. A big thank you to Margot and Allen for picking me up.

We stopped in Dessert Springs for a quick bite at Yardley's. It is a burger joint in the truck stop there, but they have really good burgers. The only snaffu is that they brought our burgers out and i had ordered a triple patty, Margot and Allen had ordered singles. Well one had 3 written on it and Allen handed it to me, we both figured that signified the triple. I was so hungry, I did not look and started eating away, turns out I had Margot's burger. So she kind of got jipped, because she had mushrooms on hers. So I will need to take for a repeat.

She pulled a fast one on Allen and I. We were sitting there and in walk Andy and Dorothy. Allen and I thought it was just coincidental that they showed up, because Andy had never been there. He was a Yardley's Virgin. Well turns out Margot had texted them when we were leaving St George and they drove out. I did not realize that until Margot told me when we were leaving. Andy and Dorothy played it real well when they came in, so I bit hook line and sinker. It was a nice homecoming. Thanks guys.

Today had Rotary and it was nice to be back in the room with folks versus being on Zoom. We had a good meeting. Now I am manning our Monthly used book sale until 1:00 pm. So far business has been decent.

I did not sleep well last night, which surprised me. It took me forever to get to sleep (past midnight) and I woke up at 4:30, so got up and did a load of laundry and started going through the bucket of mail that Margot and Allen picked up while I had been gone. Well turns out everybody at Rotary said they did not sleep well either. Must have been the weather.

After the book sale I need to go to the store. Old mother Hubbards shelves are pretty bare. Thankfully I had a couple of bagels in the freezer for breakfast. I also need to go get a haircut, I did not get a chance to book another appointment with Danna before I left Butte and I am overdue. So should be a busy day. It is good to be back in my own bed and seeing Jen's photo on the wall.

When I left for Rotary I found out it had rained and must have been close to snowing. The snow almost reached the valley. On the Las Vegas news this morning they had reporters driving around to try and find some snow in and around the Summerlin area.

I believe they found a dusting somewhere just as I was leaving. The photo below is from my driveway and if you look in the distance you can see how close the snow line got to the valley.

Anyway I am safely back and have several things to work on and will hopefully squeeze some Pickleball and golf in the next few days. I will finally get to try out my new paddle that I bought myself for Christmas.
