It started as a nice day here, it was warmed up quickly. We got Dad out on his scooter and we did a few things outside, then the wind started to,pick up and it started to cloud up. You can tell some crappy weather is starting to blow in.
So we came in and had some lunch and started watching the roll up to the Kentucky. There were some good preliminary races with a couple of long shots winning, that was just a prelude to,the main event. It was a hell of a run for the roses with a great photo finish. Thankfully, we did not place any bets as none of us had the winner. I was pulling for Just Steel, and he was in the mix until the final turn and then he withered.
It is really hard for me to fathom, that just a year ago, we had Jennifer running (grudgingly I might add) to the Eureka Casino to put in our bets on the race and that she hosted a Cinco De Mayo party at the house on May 5th.
That party would have the great taco black olive debate of 2023. Jennifer liked to have black olives on Taco’s. According to some of the guests (who will remain unnamed) claimed this was sacra religious. They say Taco’s should not have black olives on them. I will tell you that Jennifer went to her grave saying bullshit on that. She liked black olives, especially on her taco’s. It was all in good fun of course and we have laughed about that often.
Anyway, I have thought about those events a lot today. It has brought both smiles and tears. It’s hard accepting that she is gone.
I’m with Jennifer. Black olives definitely belong on tacos! 😉 They compliment them nicely!
