Indoor Pickleball

Yesterday I went with a group of 22 other folks up to St George to play at a indoor Pickleball complex. The place is a franchise business called the Picklr. It was a lot of fun. We played for 3 hours and then most of the group went out for a late lunch at the Olive Garden. I was pooped when I got home.

I caught a ride with a couple of guys that live in my neighborhood. They have a very nice electric car, so I got my first ride in a fully electric car. It was interesting and I joked with the guys that I was jeopardizing my pension being a oil and gas worker. They said they would keep my secret safe.

One of the guys in the group is seriously considering building a indoor pickleball complex here in Mesquite. While I love the idea, I think it is going to take a lot of work to get the numbers to keep a place like that open. However it sure would be nice to have a place to play when it too hot (like yesterday) and when it is too windy.

Mesquite is somewhat of a anomaly in regards to Pickleball. Most communities don’t have enough courts. Mesquite especially for its size now has a lot of courts. This was not the case when we first moved here. However in the last two years, the city has added a outdoor 14 court complex and then Sun City built its 16 court complex plus the six existing courts. There are also some courts sprinkled around in some of the other 55+ communities and some of the RV parks are also putting courts in.

Anyway it was a fun afternoon. When I got home I started watching college football. I was able to catch the MSU game in the second quarter and then was switching back and forth between the Griz game and then the Georgia vs Alabama game. Those two games were pretty similar in that both the Griz and the Tide has leads but had to hold on for the wins in the second half.

It also sounds like the Notre Dame vs Louisville game was the same way. ND had to hang on for the win after having a strong start.

Today I have been busy doing housework as I have a pretty busy week of activities coming up this week and with the hot temps I will probably not feel like doing it this week. So I got up this morning and noticed I had a couple of bananas that were about to go bad, so decided to whip up a banana bread. I also had bought a cabbage that I went ahead and shredded it up.

The I mopped my floors and ran to the liquor store. Was pleasantly surprised that the had some Neversweat whisky from the Headframe Distillery in Butte. So while I really did not need it, I went ahead and bought a bottle. I also picked up some beer to have on hand for company.

Then went to Walmart to pick up a few groceries that I will need during the week.

We have Bocce tonight, but it is so damn hot (107) I may not attend this evening. We have the Mesquite Senior games on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings so will be out in the heat a lot this week, so may stay home tonight to rest and save my strength for that event.

Lots of other stuff going on this week as well so going to be a busy week. Well enough for today.
