Ice Cream And Potluck

Yesterday I went to St George for my annual physical. It is a pain in the ass with the 1 hour time change. I got there about 50 minutes early. However it was a beautiful morning so that was fine.

It was a little emotional because this was my first time to that office since Jennifer passed. We used the same primary care physician. However I powered through and got it done.

The doctor was pretty torn up about Jennifer, We had a good discussion and I was able to thank her and also asked her to thank her husband who was the gastrointestinal doctor that got Jennifer in for the biopsy. So that made me feel a little better.

Unfortunately the lab tech had a problem getting blood out of me and she actually had to have another tech step in. I was beginning to feel like a pin cushion, but the second gal got it collected, but she had to stick me in the back of the hand with a baby needle. Fortunately I don't have any bruising from the first gal. I appreciated her asking the other gal to step in vs continuing to try. It was her Monday and I was her first patient that morning. So shit happens.

Then I went and got the tires rotated and balanced on the car, made a quick stop at Costco for some gas and a couple of items.

While I was there I figured I would stop at the place that handles my CPAP and got a new headgear. Mine was in pretty tough shape. Glad I did I slept good last night with the new one.

It was noon St George time, so I decided to go to a little ice cream store that Lorie Malody had found for us. It is called Snelgrove.

When Lorie was growing up in Salt Lake City they used to go to Snelgrove after Church for a ice cream. It is the name of the family that owned it. Well that one has since closed. However the granddaughter of the family decided to open one up in St George. They still get their cream from the same dairy. The day, we went the son of the Snelgrove family was minding the store and gave us the scoop (no pun intended) on the new store.

It is much smaller than the Salt Lake store and really does not have a eating area, but the ice cream is good. I had a hot fudge Sunday. That was the specialty in Salt Lake. Lorie said they used to give little pitchers of Giradelli hot fudge so you could put on as much as you can handle. However the day we visited with Malodys the hot fudge machine was broke. I guess they have given up on that because it is still broke. However the granddaughter gave me a healthy portion yesterday. It brought back good memories. It was on that trip that Lorie took the picture of Jennifer at the desert botanical gardens.

After I gobbled down my fudge sundae I hit the road and was able to get home in time for Pickleball Round Robin. We got it in just as the wind started to pick up.

Today I did a few things around the house and then went to Bocce. I played decent today and we won 2 out of 3 games. Then came home and did some yard work and then made my appetizer for our Rotary Potluck meeting tonight.

I made mini cheese ball bites. They are cream cheese with cheddar cheese mixed in and some spices. They are then covered with bacon bits, chopped pecans and chives. I got pretzel sticks to stick in them so you don't need utinsels to eat them. Hopefully folks like them.

The next few days are going to be busy. I am golfing tomorrow and then will be going to Tom Petty Concert on Saturday evening. Sunday I have company coming to see me. Dan and Karla Brenan, old friends from our time in Pittsburgh are driving up from Las Vegas to see me. It will be good to see them. They had visited in San Antonio a few years back

Well I better get a move on, need to jump in shower and get to the Pot Luck.

I am not sure it was Ghirardelli Hot Fudge. I always assumed as a kid that they made their own. I can still smell it when I conjure up that memory. But you have talked to them and might know that is what they use. Either way it doesn’t matter. It is a great childhood memory for me!

Probably a good thing you ate the hot fudge sundae after and not before your physical! Haha! Lynn C
