Happy Fathers Day

Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers in my life. I hope everyone has a great day.

It is looking like it going to be a cool and breezy one here today. We have a winter weather advisory with potential for 7 inches of snow between today and Tuesday. I was actually surprised we did not have snow this morning. Last night felt like it could snow.

Well we had a good day yesterday. Chad did a great job of fixing a plumbing issue. Both the water well pressure tank and hot water heater were well overdue for replacement. So this weekend we replaced them. Better to do it now than in January at 50 below.

This was a pretty tricky job because of the tight confined area in the laundry room where the tanks are located. But Chad got her done and we now have better water pressure and hotter water. Chad worked his ass off to get it done. Kudo’s to Chad. My sister Cindy could not have ended up with a better spouse!

A added bonus is that we already had a scrap steel roll off to put the old tanks in.

In addition to the plumbing we worked on auction prep stuff. The boys and I got the last piece of equipment (side delivery hay rake) out of the machine shed. Now there is a lot of old antique steel and a few odds and ends to pluck out of there, but the auction guys have a nice little loader that will make that easier.

One amazing thing was getting the little Honda 70 trail bike running. We installed a new battery in it and put some new gas in it, checked the oil added air to the tires and with three kicks the little bike came to life. Of course Cindy, Chad and I all had to take it for a spin around the yard. Then the boys had to also take it for a ride. Case did not like it, he prefers his side by side and four wheelers.

It brought back a lot of childhood memories of riding that little bike around and around the yard and back and forth in the field and getting scolded by my elders for riding it too fast.

Over the years a host of folks had stored stuff at the ranch in one of the buildings, and so folks have also been coming to get their stuff, some are electing to just put it in the auction. So we have been busy doing that.

Yesterday we had some pretty good rains, but we also had some pretty strong winds, so it pretty much dried out what we had gotten.

Hopefully everyone else sleeps in this morning, and gets some much deserved rest and then we will tackle getting some more auction prep going.

I think I will whip up French toast and sausages for breakfast this morning. So I better get a move on and get that prepped so when folks get up I can get to cooking.
