Great Fireworks!

We had a nice lunch with Jeanne for her Birthday yesterday. We went to the Back 9 grill at the Highland View Golf course. Everyone’s food was good. Ryan and Bode had to take off for Bozeman to pick up Caron and Lilly who flew in yesterday afternoon. Elaine, Jim and I went to Jeanne and Rob’s house for coffee, cake and ice cream and we visited and reminisced. The chocolate cake that we had was delicious. Jennifer would have so enjoyed the day, She even would have enjoyed the chocolate cake (it was that good).

After lunch, I had to run a couple of errands and since I was near the cemetery I went out to check on her. I have to be honest, I really don’t feel much different when I am there, I always feel like she is with me or around me, but I just felt I needed to check on her flowers. They are still looking beautiful (Kate and Pat sure did a beautiful job on them). Her basket is getting a little weathered from the sun, wind and rain, but her roses are still beautiful. After we get thru the holidays, I am going to see about getting some cement to better secure her Sheppards hook better. The high winds have made it lean a little bit more than I like.

After I ran my errands I came back out to the ranch for a bit. Thankfully my sister Colleen arrived at the ranch safely around 3 pm. She said she had some pretty horrendous weather around the Livingston and Bozeman pass areas (wind and rain) then again in the Mulligan Canyon area. So she and her fur babies (Candy and Lola) were pretty happy to get here.

After the parade Pat is having a get together at her house. I decided I am going to bring a fruit salad. I worked on getting that prepped and will need to put it together here this morning. It will have watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew melon and red grapes in it.

Yesterday never really did warm up. It was cool and breezy and partly cloudy almost all day. With small intermittent rain showers. It was fairly nice it the late afternoon (breeze died a little bit).

I went back to town to watch the fireworks with Jim and Elaine and the kids at the Butte Chamber of Commerece parking lot. It is next door to the Butte KOA. This year the fireworks were televised, so Mom and Dad elected to stay home and watch them. I think that was a good idea, they were much more comfortable and did not have to be sitting in the cold. They said it was very nice and the telecast was good. It started a little blurry, but the crew videoing got it straightened out quickly and it was great.

Cindy, Chad and the boys watched them from the East Ridge and Colleen met up with some of her highschool friends up on the hill. So she was the closest to the action.

Prior to the fireworks we went over to see Mike’s sons and grandson at their VRBO, they were not going to make staying up for the fireworks as they were pretty wiped out by Jet lag. They are living out in a Virginia (the 2 hour time change was kicking their butts). Their place is out in the country club area and was beautiful location (I think it was on the 16th hole of the golf course).

Once the sun went down it got down right chilly, but we all bundled up and sat in our lawn chairs on the lawn of the chamber of commerce lawn. They were people lighting off fire works all over the chamber parking lot, it was a little harrowing. Jim and Boce joined in and lit some of the fireworks they had. However they saved the rest for today.

This year they also had kind of neat feature. If you logged into a app the company that did the fireworks had you could download music that was choreographed to the fireworks. Ryan downloaded the app on his phone and played the music while the fireworks were going off. It was pretty well done. Of course the fireworks were once again outstanding. Below is a short video clip of some of them.

It is amazing how many people travel to Butte to watch the fireworks. The traffic was very heavy (for here) heading North.

The people in Butte do enjoy lighting fireworks and they put on a pretty good show up to and after the big boys finish. I hate to fathom a guess on how much money went up in smoke last night and will go up in smoke again tonight. We heard lots of sirens before, during and after the show, so the emergency response folks were being kept quite busy. Hopefully no one lost a house or got killed last night. Last year a young lady hit and ran a couple of young men over killing one them (of course she was intoxicated). She turned herself in the next day.

Well I better get to work on my salad. It will be parade time before I know it.
