I have been trying to get my stuff ready for my departure on Monday. I got a box of stuff (mostly from the trailer) that I packed up and have ready to ship. I will do that today when I take Dad in for my last rotary meeting here in Butte for this summer.
I am also trying to help out here get some things ready for winter. Yesterday I put the snow plow back on the four wheeler that we put the new tires on. I also reorganized the old tires that we still have left in the barn. We have gotten rid of about 30-40 tires but we still have 57 tires left. Both Cindy and I have Facebook Marketplace adds out there for them, but have not had many bites the last couple of days.
This summer for some reason we had a starling get in on the folk’s patio and it crapped all over the place and on everything. It was really bad this last week. So I hosed the patio and furniture off yesterday, which was a bigger job than I was anticipating.
I was really missing Jennifer when I was packing the box of stuff. She was a much better packer than I am. Also some of the stuff was reminders of her. Stuff she had picked up or found that made life in the trailer easier. Some are kitchen type things that will also be useful at home. Of course there was also our boards of stickers that we had acquired from breweries and distillery’s we had visited over the years and that triggered memories.
I also have some more stuff to donate to the Butte Sheltered Workshop Thrift Store. Some more of her clothes and shoes that I found in my room downstairs plus some old clothes of mine.
Cindy and the boys are going to make a quick trip over this afternoon (after Heaths morning soccer practice) to take some stuff into the bank to put back in the folks’s Safety Deposit box and to pick up some stuff they still have here. Dad and I will probably miss seeing them today. They have to get back to East Helena for Heath’s afternoon soccer practice. Yesterday they were taking team photos. I guess he will have his first game next Friday in Stevensville. They may have a scrimmage this Saturday, that we can maybe get over to see. It is really hard to believe he is at that age already.
Last night I watched the Democratic convention. I thought Oprah’s speech was very good and Tim Walz’s speech was outstanding. I was disappointed with Bill Clinton’s speech. However I thought the rhetoric by all the speakers was in the right direction. It has been interesting to see the numerous Republicans that have spoken. I thought the Republican mayor from Mesa, AZ really hit the nail on the head. Anyway, we have a lifetime to go for the next 70+ days. A lot can happen in that time frame. I just pray that we as a country send the Chettolini and his cult off into the sunset.
Well I better get a move on a lot to do and a short time to do it. That almost sounds like the song from Smokey and The Bandit. Enough for today.
