Well today marks 57 years of life. I have been thinking a lot about last years birthday.
Jennifer summoned up the strength to go up to Margot and Allen’s for cake and ice cream. Of course she made sure she had a gift for me. A set of waterproof bone conduction headphones. It is really hard to believe we are creeping up on a year since she passed. I still find myself saying I need to tell Jennifer about this or that and then get that sinking feeling of knowing that is not going to happen.
It was a busy day. I got up and did my irrigation duties and then decided I wanted sausage with biscuits and gravy. So went ahead and cooked up some for breakfast. Then we had a neighbor come down and cut hay in the field across the road from the house and the field below the house.
This afternoon we went to a funeral for a neighbor (Dave Rupert) that used to live across the road from us. It was at Many Lake up here in Elk Park. It started to sprinkle rain just before the ceremony, making the walking paths slick. The paths are pretty steep so Mom stayed in the car. I pushed Dad down, I think he was pretty concerned I was going to launch him out of his chair, but we made it.
Unfortunately we only got to stay for the service and did not get to stay and visit after the service. The reason was that we had arranged to have dinner at the Montana Club. Jeanne and Rob joined us. But we paid our respects. The Rupert’s lived across from us at my great uncles old place for a long time (probably 20+ years.). We still have the nice meat carving set that Dave and Jean gave us for our wedding.
We had a nice dinner at the Montana club and I got a 57% discount on my meal.
I received several cards and a bunch of Happy Birthday wishes on social media. I really appreciate all of them but I really missed Jennifer a lot today. Oh well life goes on but damn it it hurts.
Happy belated birthday, Joe! Sounds like you had a busy day, as usual! Love Lynn and Duke
Happy Birthday. Blessings
