Yesterday I had Rotary. In Mesquite there are two Rotary clubs we are starting the process of bringing the two clubs together into one club. This is not a simple process and is going to require a lot of work and consensus building. I have been tasked with working on some of the administrative type stuff (Constituion, By-laws, policies and procedures, etc.). So have spent a good amount of time creating working documents that compare the two clubs stuff so we can discuss and frame the stuff for the new club. It has felt like I am back at work.
This stuff would have really been up Jennifer's alley. She was really good at this stuff. I did my fair share of this over the years as well, but she was definitely better at it than me.
After Rotary I stopped by the Eureka Casino to renew my member card. They make you get a new one every year. Not that I gamble much and don't go there very often, but they are a big supporter of various community activities and have supported our Rotary Club. It was on the way home so swung in and got a new card. On the way out I decided to put $20 in a slot machine. Hit a $12 payout so tried a couple of tries and cashed out with a $10 profit and got the heck out of there. So the last two times at the Casino's I walked out a winner. I am sure that trend would not continue. Jennifer always told me when I lost money at a Casino I was lucky in love and not in gambling. You know what she was right.
Then I went to Walmart and was going to grab some things and realized I had left my list at home. So came home and did a little rotary work and then when I needed a break, went back and got the things I needed.
Came home and made some supper. I tried something I never had done before. It was a wet rainy day yesterday and I was craving some cornbread and chili. So I bought a cornbread muffin mix and a can of chili at the store. Came home and I had seen a YouTube video where the person made cornbread in a waffle iron. So I tried that. I had also bought a jalapeño pepper and I chopped that up and added it to the cornbread mix. Then I poured it on the waffle iron. Well guess what it worked and was pretty darn tasty. I poured the chili over the jalapeño cornbread waffles. It was pretty damn good if I don't say so myself.
Now I will say that I made a damn mess as I filled the waffle iron a little too much and some of the cornbread mix oozed out the side of the iron. We have a ancient waffle iron (we got it as a wedding gift) and it was a bitch getting the oozed mix cleaned up out of its nooks and cranny's but got it done and thankfully the resulting meal was worth it.
Then did some more rotary work and have been working on that again this morning.
When I was going thru Jennifer's jewelry stuff I found some notes she had made on her Mom's family genealogy so took some photos of that and sent to her siblings. She had been visiting with Kathy in our Bocce club a bit on genealogy stuff and maybe trying to find out more about Mick's genealogy (he was adopted)and was looking forward to working on that. Kathy's husband was adopted and they had found members of his biological family so she had some pointers on doing that type of research.
Anyway, it another cloudy cool day here today. I guess I better try to finish up the Rotary work I want to get done for today. I am getting close. So better get back to the Salt mine.
