Crazy Bowl Games

There have been some crazy college football bowl games. The Toledo vs Pitt game yesterday was one of them. Jennifer would have been screaming and hollering at the TV during that one and I can almost bet she would have been teary eyed at the end because Pitt lost.

I only got to see the first half live as I had to take my Mom over to Anaconda for her annual Medicare exam. Both Mom and I though Pitt was pretty much toast at that point. Mom’s appointment was the one, where they put a mirror under your nose and if you fog up the mirror you are good, but it is the appointment you have to have for prescription renewals etc. I am being just a bit sarcastic, but sadly the appointment is not a hell of a lot more than that.

After Mom’s appointment my Dad wanted us to pick up a Houfbrau special pizza from the Houfbrau in Anaconda. It is a pretty unique pizza as it has all of the typical fixings on it, but also Sauerkraut (it was very good). I called and ordered it when we were leaving Moms appointment.

We had about 30 minutes to kill before the pizza was ready so we took a drive around Anaconda. We took a ride by Kennedy park to see the Christmas tree in the middle of the ice skating rink. It was just barely cold enough for ice, but they did had ice. There was one young lady doing a little skating (looked like she must have gotten skates for Christmas) but that was pretty much it. It was pretty breezy and the wind had a bite so that was probably keeping most of the kids away (Wimps).

So after about 25 minutes we headed west towards the Houfbrau and I went in to get the Pizza. I was pretty shocked to see that the Pitt game was still on the TV in the bar and that the score was tied. They had just finished the first overtime and were starting the second. I got the pizza and we headed back towards Butte. We made a quick stop in Rocker for gas and then headed for Elk Park. The game ended just as we pulled into the yard. So that was one long game. We had watched the Hawaii bowl on Christmas Eve and that game went for five overtime’s.

So then we watched the Rutgers vs Kansas State game as we ate our Pizza. That was a close game as well and that one almost went to Overtime as well, but Kansas State pulled it off in regulation.

So I guess the bowl committee has made the match up’s in these inconsequential bowls pretty well and there has been some entertaining games so far. Hopefully the consequential bowls coming up will be as competitive, because the first round games have not been that competitive.

Tonight I am going into town to meet up with some of my old high school classmates. Some I have not seen for a long time. So that should be interesting. Of course it will not be the same without Jennifer there. I am both looking forward to it, but also dreading it a little bit as well. However, can’t change the situation (as much as I want to) so I will forge ahead. She would have wanted me to go.

Elk Park must have been about the only place in Southwest Montana that got snow as the only icy roads we had were up here. The rest of the roads on the way to Anaconda were dry and both Butte and Anaconda have no to just little patches of snow in shaded areas. It is scary to think how dry it is going to be next summer if they don’t start getting some snow. Don’t get me wrong if they could hold off getting it until January 16, that would be fine with me.

Well I better start thinking about doing something productive, so enough for today.
