Well now that my “Pearl” has been harvested, I realized last night that I must now come up with a new starting word for my Wordle guess. Now if you are a professional Wordle player, you realize that the starting guess can make a huge difference in how successful you are going to be.
I guess I should have been careful in what I asked for. Heavy is the crown of success. I mean this is serious stuff. It could cause long term anxiety and frustration. Maybe I would have been better off if my little old Pearl had stayed in its comfy little shell. I could start my day in my comfort zone.
Last night I broke out in a cold sweat as I realized that I was going to need to pick a new starting word if I ever hoped to get another hole in one. I mean I could stick with Pearl and know it may be another 20 years before that is the starting word again or that it may never come up again. Well that kind of takes the fun out of the game. So I decided to step out of my comfort zone and choose a new starting word.
So I pondered it for a while and I decided to go with “Steak”. Maybe I chose that because I grilled up a nice steak for dinner. Well that was a long way from the word Jelly (which was the word of the day). FYI it took me five try’s to get there. So in my usual fashion I went from the Penthouse to the Outhouse in one short day. So I think I will ponder what my new starting word will be a little longer.
Actually my luck carried out a little longer yesterday. I went up to the Saturday morning putting tournament and my team took second place. This week was a big turnout of folks, so the organizer decided to pay out first and second place. So walked home with $4 in my pocket, so netted $3. I also had one hole in one, but another guy had 2 so got aced out on that money.
Yesterday was the Cat/Griz game. There was a viewing party at Wedgies Sports Bar here in Mesquite, so I went over and watched the game there. I wore a Montana Tech shirt and my Butte Central Maroons hat. Actually ran into a couple of Butte folks and had nice visits with them. One was Mike and Veronica McLeod and also Mark and Rene Neary. Mike’s mom and dad were good friends of my Auntie Betty and Uncle George. Mark and I wrestled together at Butte Central and Rene’s dad and my dad worked together. So had a nice visit with all of them.
It was a little emotional for me, because Jennifer’s last Cat/Griz game was in the same bar. She won a Cats hat in one of the drawings that day. It was also that night that her retina partially detached and we made a late night trip to St George Emergency Room.
The Bobcats ended up beating the Griz this year. I was pulling for the Cats this year, because of Tommy Mellot aka Touchdown Tommy. Tommy is a Butte kid, so had to pull for him. He had a big game so that was good.
After the game I came home and watched the Irish thump on Army in Yankee Satdium and grilled up that tasty steak. So all in all it was a good day.
Going to head up and play Bocce this afternoon, so I better get a move on.
