Yesterday I went to the planning meeting for the March 16 Cancer walk. The ladies organizing this have done a phenomenal amount of work on putting this walk together. While the majority of ladies are Breast cancer survivors or warriors (some are still undergoing treatment/procedures). It is obvious that they have put a lot of thought and effort into this walk. There is no denying their passion.
One of the main organizers is Dawn Pecoraro. Dawn has just finished hopefully her last treatment. Jennifer had the same oncologist as Dawn. The day we went to get Jennifer's diagnosis we ran into Dawn and her husband Ken in the waiting room area of the hospital. They gave us a quick run down about the oncologist personality and what we could expect from him. They were spot on and that was very helpful. Of course non of us expected Jennifer to depart us as quickly as she did.
At yesterdays meeting, as the ladies who are chairing the event talked about their cancers. Dawn also talked about Jennifer and how her death really impacted her outlook on this hideous disease. I really appreciated her comments.
I think the event is going to be great. Kudos to these ladies for taking this on. As I said earlier, Elaine and Jim are coming over to walk in it and I appreciate that.
After the meeting I drove over to one of the truck stops in AZ to get gas. It is about 40 cents cheaper there. On Thursday morning I am driving Margot and Allen to the Vegas airport for their trip to Louisiana for a family wedding. So wanted to have the car full for that trip.
Then came home grabbed a quick bite and headed to Pickleball. Came home from that and puttered around the house, folded some laundry, made a tomato soup cake and a banana bread and did a few other odds and ends.
This morning I played Bocce. Was a tough day on the Bocce courts. My team started strong but then we fell apart. We pulled off 1 win out of three games and we damn near gave that game away. We were up 9-0 and won 12-10. The other team pretty much smoked us the other two games.
I got home and my Mom called to tell me that one of my cousins, Kathy Crowe had taken two bad fall at her home in Illinois last weekend and suffered a severe brain bleed and was on life support. They were waiting on one of Kathy's nieces to get to town to say her goodbye and then they were going to remove her from life support. I pray she goes quickly. I feel so bad for my Aunt Betty Crowe, she recently lost her husband and now to lose her daughter. Kathy was a couple of years older than me. So another life ended too soon.
This afternoon Dorothy, Andy and I went and bowled. Unfortunately I sucked at that as well, but it was fun.
This evening I did not do much, I watched a movie and vegged. Well time to hit the hay.
