Bittersweet Day

Well today was a bittersweet day. I sold our trailer and the purchaser came and picked it up today. It took me longer to get to this point than I wanted, but it is done. It was bittersweet watching it go down the road behind someone else’s vehicle.

I have mentioned to a few folks, Jennifer and I made some good memories in that trailer, but it is time for someone else to make their own good memories in it.

I want to thank all the people who shared my Facebook post of the trailer sale. The trailer appears to be going to a very nice couple in Utah. They are friends of a couple of my friends from Mesquite. Gary and Wendy saw my post and passed it on to their friends Brad and Kristine that were looking to upgrade their current trailer.

Gary and Brad left Brigham City very early this morning and got to the ranch around 10:30. I gave both Brad and Gary a very quick orientation on the trailer and we did the paperwork and got them on the road back to Brigham City.

After that I went into town to deposit the cashiers check that Brad had brought. I had a good cry on the way to town and got myself composed to go in and do the deposit.

Then I went to Walmart and got some groceries and then to Three Bears to get Dad’s favorite bottled water and then home.

Of course the auction ended last night. It officially closed at 6:00 pm but bidding kept going until about 9:30. The reason for that was if someone placed a bid at 5:59 the bid time got extended 2 minutes and it would continue that process each time someone bid. So several items got extended as a flurry of bids came in.

When all was said and done we had 940 lots and all but 25 of them sold. The 25 lots that did not sell are smaller items, many of them were long shots.

Overall the Mom and Dad are pleased with how it is proceeding. There were surprises on both ends of the spectrum. Some things went higher than we thought they would and some went lower than we thought they would.

Tomorrow and Friday people have to come pick up their items, so it will be a crazy busy couple of days. We had a couple folks that tried to show up and pick up today, we had to tell them to,come back tomorrow or Friday.

I have been having a lot of WWJD thoughts (no it is not what would Jesus do, it is what would Jennifer do). I know it was probably bittersweet up,in heaven for her as well.

It took us quite a while to find the right trailer. We traveled around the San Antonio area to look and the funny thing is that we found it at a dealer that was about 1 mile from the house. Anyway, we found this one. While we were going through all this I started watching a lot of YouTube video’s on trailers and getting tips/pointers on what to do and not do regarding the trailer. She used to tease me about watching “trailer porn”. I did become pretty obsessed with it for a while, but I did find some good stuff and we outfitted the trailer and we were happy with it.

Certainly thought we would have had it a lot longer than we did, but I also thought I would have her a lot longer than I did. Well enough for tonight.
