Beautiful Eulogy

At yesterday’s funeral our niece Kate gave the eulogy for her grandmother Shirley. She did a outstanding job. It was probably the best eulogy I have ever witnessed. I know Shirley was smiling from heaven and beaming with pride.

Both Kates dad Dave and Jennifer would have been so proud and impressed with Kate’s eulogy, so I know they were also smiling from Heaven.

The overall service was beautiful. It was conducted at the mortuary chapel and it was a full house and it was not just family. That is a testament to the unique lady Shirley was. At 94 (almost 95) you usually don’t see many “friend”s at a funeral like that. However for Shirley that was not the case, she had several of her Red Hat club friends there, as well as friends from Shirley’s many other clubs/organizations she worked with. She was on the board of the Belmont Senior Center right up until the time of her death.

They had a nice luncheon at the Butte Archives after the service.

It was also nice seeing our niece Hannah and her husband Cody, but who everyone was really anxious to see was their daughter Alice. The last time most of us have gotten to see her was when she was just a baby. She is quite the cutie, with her Mom’s big blue eyes, but she delayed her appearance until the luncheon. She fell asleep in the car on the way to the service, so Cody and her stayed in the car for the service.

Aunt Janice and Uncle Kenn and Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Rob did not get to see her. Janice and Kenn had to hit the road right after the service, Janice has a dental appointment in Gillette today and then they will be heading to Silver City to see their new grandchild who has been named Myra Emery. Jeanne and Rob did not make it up to the luncheon at the Butte Archives. Fortunately Janice and Kenn made it home.

However Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Rob will get to see Alice today. Kate is having a impromptu Birthday party for her son Ted today at Pat’s house, while Cody, Hannah and Alice are in town. They have to head back to Michigan on Saturday.

We all enjoyed watching Ted at the ceremony yesterday. He was wearing his Dinosaur tie and he was like a little politician working the room. We had several chuckles watching him talk to his various cousins.

We will get back working on the auction prep today. I will take a quick run to town for Ted’s birthday but then will hustle back out to help with the prep work. Cindy and the boys got back to the ranch yesterday evening. They had quite a busy day in East Helena yesterday as well.

Well I better get to moving.
