Are You Shitting Me!

Yesterday one of the news stations was saying the President-elect Trumps approval rating was 54%. Are you shitting me! After the cast of clowns he has nominated and the stuff he has announced he is going to do Day 1 and 54% of the people polled agree with that. Really makes me question my fellow man.

I know people taking new positions usually will have higher approval ratings as everyone is hoping things are going to improve with the new administration. In this case we already know what kind of circus is coming. We lived through it once and it looks like (to me at least) Trump2 is going to be even crazier than the first administration.

It’s like movie sequels, the second one is rarely (and I mean rarely) as good as the first one. So far the sequel in my eyes is already looking bad.

These next years are going to be very tough. I may be a mute when it is all said and done because I may end up biting my tongue clean off. Well enough about politics

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I have more than my fair share of things to be thankful for. I am thankful for all the love and support that I have been given as I navigate my way without Jennifer by my side. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be in this situation but it is what it is and I cannot thank enough all of the people who have been helping me along.

My plans for Thanksgiving is to head down to Summerlin and spend the holiday with the Benner clan. I am very much looking forward to seeing everyone. It has been a couple of months since I have seen them.

I am going to make a Apple strudel to take down with me. This will be my first solo attempt at making one, so it should be interesting. This is one of my favorite desserts and I loved them when I was a little kid.

We had several family friends that used to make strudel’s over the years. Some of the ladies that made these could whip one up in nothing flat. It will probably take me quite a bit longer, but so be it. Two of the ladies whose strudels I loved as a kid where Ettie Varelia and Molly Krstulich. These two ladies made a really mean strudel. Their doughs for the strudel would be paper thin and the stuffing for the strudel would be spiced just right. I know mine will not be anywhere near as good as theirs but I am going to give it a shot.

Jennifer and I made a couple of apple strudels over the years and they turned out Ok and I have made them with my Mom and Dad. So it’s not my first rodeo, just the first one by myself.

I have been staying pretty busy. Yesterday was Bocce and bowling and then I attended a statue unveiling at the new Mesquite Fire Station. The statue is a beautiful statue of a Mesquite Fire Fighter and is dedicated to the fire fighters, EMT’s and police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. Below is a photo of the plaque near the statue.

This statue was built with totally donated funds from companies, organization's and individuals. The pavers that it is set on have the name of donors on them. Our Rotary club donated to this statue, so we have a brick. According to the Fire Chief it cost $87,000 and was sculpted by an Artist in Colorado.

The ceremony was nice and short but impactful and the statue is pretty cool looking with the colored flag.

Well I better get moving so I get my strudel done.
