We gave it hell but it was another tough Bocce Day. My playing partner Gary and I were only able to eek out one victory in Day 2. We had fun, but it was uncanny how many bad bounces we got during the tournament. I don’t know how many time it looked like we might get anywhere from 1-3 points and our competitors had one ball left and they would ace us out for a point. We also had numerous time where the palino would get hit closer to the other teams balls. But that is Bocce.
The results of the tournament was a three way tie for first based on win/loss record. So it went to the scorecards and point differential for the event. Based on that Dorothy and Andy ended up being the gold medal winners. Now we get to razz them for a year about being Sun City’s Bocce royalty and believe me we will razz them about it. Below is a photo of the good metal winners, FYI I took the photo.

After Bocce there was a Pickleball Club meeting. It was pretty well attended. According to,the officers we have breached 300 members in the club. The club is hosting its first tournament on October 26-27. I am playing in it. Jim and Elaine are coming over and Jim will play in the mixed doubles event on Sunday with a playing partner from his club. According to the officers we have 142 registered players and still a couple of weeks before the registration closes. That is pretty good for a first tournament.
Then I had my weekly Rotary meeting. According to the finances we made about $6,000 from the mud volleyball tournament. Not as much as in previous years, but still pretty respectable. Now the planning begins for next year.
People from the city, all the Sun City’s in the Las Vegas areas and two 55+ communities in St George have been invited to play.
I went up and practiced Corn Hole this morning before Bocce. My play has a long way to go but I am coming along. I am playing in my first corn hole tournament in a couple of weeks, so that should be fun.
We had our Bocce Club play this morning. I was surprised with how many members who played the last couple of days showed up to play today. Jennifer likely would have not played in the tournament. She would be too concerned/anxious with not performing well, but she surely would have been there this morning and she would have enjoyed it. It was a nice day at the start but it got warm quickly. Margot may have talked her into it, but I doubt it, she was pretty hard headed about that.
I am going to be playing in a neighborhood challenge event coming up next week. Tonight our team is having a practice and pot luck event. I will be honest I am not entirely sure what events are being played, but I think it is corn hole, bocce and putting (golf). Then I have to go coordinate the Thursday evening round robin Pickleball event. So another busy day.
My Dad is doing Ok. He is doing physical therapy to hopefully get his strength back up so,he can go home. Yesterday his spirits were pretty good. Appreciate all the prayers and well wishes for him.
