A Year Ago Today My Life Changed For The Worse.

A year ago today we got the diagnosis of Neuroendocrine Carcinoma. We did not really know what it meant, but we knew it was not good.

Jennifer got that news while sitting in the Toyota Dealership waiting room in St George. We had her car in their dealership to get some issues checked out. I was wanting to make sure the car was in good running condition if we needed to be traveling for treatment. While we were waiting she logged onto the patient portal and got the results. Of course it took our breath away, but again she was very strong. She teared up but she did not break out crying. Well it took another hour before we could get the car and get the hell out of there. Of course it felt like a eternity and she was having pains in her side.

She tried getting hold of the gastrointestinal doctor with no luck, actually he had not recieved the results yet himself. Anyway it was the start of an unfortunate journey.

Today a year later, we are having the auction preview day and I am not much use or help with it. Wednesday evening, I along with my Dad tested positive for Covid 19. My Mom tested positive about a week ago and we had been isolating her as much as possible and taking precautions, unfortunately those precautions did not pay off. I had not communicated about that because I knew people would worry.

So far my case is very mild (stuffy head and cough) but other than that I feel fine. The folk’s cases are also fairly mild. So the vaccines have to help. We are all vaccinated. So yet again the lions share of the effort has fallen on Cindy and Chad. Which makes me so disappointed and frustrated.

Jennifer would be furious with me and believe me I have heard “God Damn It Joe” in my head more than I care to admit.

It was Mom’s 78th birthday yesterday. It was a weird one to say the least. The healthy ones stayed outside and sang Happy Birthday through the screen door on the patio. The sick ones sang inside.

Another weird thing was last night on Wheel of Fortune, one of the contestants was the gal from Pate Auction Company (company doing the folks auction). She even made it to the final puzzle, but did not solve that, she ended winning $16,600 though. So that was exciting.

So a year gone by and July 19 is another shitty day. Other than that it is a beautiful day weather wise but it is going to get hot. The boys are hoping to capitalize on that. They are selling ice cold water for a $1. I am expecting sales will pick up in a hour or so.

So far there has been a steady flow of folks coming to look at the stuff. When Case isn’t on water selling duty, he has been acting as a used tractor salesman. He has been starting and demonstrating how they operate. I guess if a 10 year old can operate it anyone should be able to operate it.

Well hopefully the visit will pay dividends in bids, we will see on July 27 after it all said and done. Hopefully we are all healthy so we can celebrate getting through this.
