A Car Show and College Football Weekend

For the last two evenings I have been watching college football out on my patio. I have been firing up my bigger patio fire pit for the first half of the evening games and then my little table top fire pit for the second half of the games.

Today, I have been running two TV’s. This afternoon the Cat and Griz games were on at the same time so I was able to watch both games. The Cats won big and move on in the FCS playoffs. The Griz lost, so their season is over.

Tonight I have the Clemson vs SMU game on in the kitchen and the Penn State vs Oregon game on the patio TV. Really missing Jennifer, she would have been happy to be sitting on the patio next to the fire pits and probably having a glass of wine of her gas station wine.

While I was cooking dinner I watched the Texas vs Georgia game. That was an overtime thriller. Georgia sure has had their share of overtime games the last two weeks. This week it only took them one overtime to win. Last week it was 8 overtime’s.

I made a new dish for me. It was a pizza using frozen bread dough for the crust. Now this idea is from a couple of recipes that the Pioneer Women has. I made a cheeseburger pizza the other day that was good. She had a recipe for a BBQ chicken pizza as well. However I decided to do my own take and I used a jar of white Garlic Alfredo sauce (Dominos has a pizza kind of similar to this) for the sauce and shredded rotisserie chicken (which I got from Costco yesterday) for the meat. I added some diced green pepper, onion, mushrooms and jalapeño peppers and shredded Mozzarella cheese. It was pretty tasty if I don’t say so myself.

I know Jennifer would not have been impressed. She was not a gourmet pizza gal. Her preferred pizza was a Canadian bacon and black olive pizza. She definitely would not have eaten the mushrooms (it was a texture thing for her). But since it was only me eating it, I got to put what I wanted on it.

I probably could have cooked it just a tad longer to crisp up the crust a tad more, but it was ok and I will definitely give it a second try and some point. The bread dough makes a thicker crust pizza than a traditional homemade pizza. I would have added olives as well, but I did not have any in the pantry so will add those next time. I may go with green instead of black olives though.

Overall today was a fairly quiet day. I played in the putting tourney this morning (I did not putt well today), then I went down to the Eureka casino to help gather toys from people attending a car show there for Rotary. There was a 1962 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk similar to my Grandpa’s old car. This one was Cherry Red.

Here is my grandpa’s car with its current owner Paul Eddy.

So has been a pretty quiet laid back weekend. Well enough for today.
